Junk food, which includes highly processed food and fast food (in other words S.A.D.--the Standard American Diet) is a leading contributor to childhood obesity. Obesity, in turn, is a primary cause of the following, among many others:

diabetes     cancer     congestive heart failure

enlarged heart     pulmonary embolism     hernia

gastro-esophageal reflux disease     fatty liver disease

polycystic ovarian syndrome     urinary incontinence

chronic renal failure     lymph edema     cellulitis

stroke     Pickwickian syndrome    depression

arthritis     gout     gallbladder disease

And these diseases, formerly seen almost exclusively in adults, are increasingly striking children, such as juvenile arthritis and juvenile diabetes.
